AFMC Exam Notification 2014


Till Date Fresh notifications have not been issued. We will update as soon as it is notified by the Institute. For benefit of Studetns, Parents and Teachers we are posting a review of notifcation of 2013.



AFMC - 2013
NEET - UG written examination to be conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and as per the provisions contained in Gazette of India Notification No. MCI-31(1)/2010 Med/62051 dated 15.02.2012 published on 27.02.2012 for NEET UG to shortlist candidates for admission to MBBS Course at AFMC, Pune.

Admission to AFMC, Pune for the year 2013 will be through NEET – UG 2013. Candidates will have to appear in the NEET-UG 2013 and also apply to AFMC in the online form.

Schedule of AFMC:
  1. Start date for Registration and Filling online application: 15th April, 2013
  2. Last day for Registration: 3rd May, 2013
  3. Last date of Filling and Submission of online application: 12th May, 2013
  4. Last date for Payment of fee at any SBI branch: 14th May, 2013
About AFMC:

Thanks to the recommendations of B. C. Roy Committee for postgraduate courses, Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, was established on 1st May 1948 by an act of Indian parliament. The graduate wing for MBBS Course was started in AFMC on 4th August 1962 with the aim of inducting Medical Graduates to the Armed Forces Medical Services.

AFMC is presently affiliated to the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik, and is recognized by the MCI for conducting Undergraduate and Postgraduate Medical Courses.

Applications are invited for admission to the MBBS Course at Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, which is commencing from 1st August 2013.

Number of Seats:

A total of 130 Medical Cadets (105 boys + 25 girls) will be admitted for the year 2013.

Reservations:

1. Ten out of 130 seats are reserved for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes (SC) / Scheduled Tribes (ST) subject to the provisions.
2. In addition to the above 130 seats, Govt. of India has the discretion in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs & Ministry of Defense to sponsor and select foreign students from the countries having friendly foreign relations for MBBS training in AFMC.
Important Dates:

* Commencement of registration and Filling online application: 15 April 2013
* Last day for registration: 03 May 2013
* Last date of filling and submission of online application: 12 May 2013
* Last date for payment of fee at any SBI branch: 14 May 2013

Course Duration:

The duration of MBBS course is 4 ½ years followed by compulsory rotating internship training of one year. All the Medical Cadets with service liability undergo internship training in selected service hospitals recognized by the Medical Council of India.

Qualifying Examination:

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducts NEET – UG written examination as per the provisions contained in Gazette of India Notification No. MCI-31(1)/2010 Med/62051 dated 15.02.2012 published on 27.02.2012 for NEET UG to shortlist candidates for admission to MBBS Course at AFMC, Pune.

Candidates have to appear in the NEET-UG and also apply to AFMC in the online form.

Written Examination Score:

The marks obtained in NEET -UG added to the ToELR score divided by 4 to get a score out of 200. The aggregate will be the sum total of marks obtained in NEET - UG marks + ToELR i.e. {(720 + 80)/4)}.

ToELR means - Test of English Language, Comprehension, Logic and Reasoning (ToELR) in the form of CBT (Computer Based Test) to be conducted at AFMC Pune, only for the candidates, who would be shortlisted for the interview.

Final aggregate: Written examination marks + Interview marks (50 marks).
Eligibility & Qualifications:

Eligibility:

A candidate, who fulfills the eligibility criteria prescribed by the DGAFMS (Director General Armed Forces Medical Services), Ministry of Defense, New Delhi, The Medical Council of India, and Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nasik, would appear for the Test.

  1. A candidate must be a citizen of India
  2. Must be unmarried. Marriage during the course is not permitted
  3. Should be medically fit as per prescribed standards by the Govt. of India, Ministry of Defense
There will be two categories regarding age criteria depending on academic qualifications:

(10+2) or Equivalent:Must have attained the age of 17 years on 31st Dec of the year of application; but must not have attained the age of 22 years on that date.

B. Sc Passed / appearing in the Final year of B.Sc: Must not have attained the age of 24 years.

Academic Qualification:

Candidates must have passed one of the following qualifying examinations in their very first attempt with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, which is conducted simultaneously; and securing not less than 60% aggregate marks in these three science subjects taken together; and not less than 50% marks in English and 50% marks in each of these science subjects. They must have also passed an examination in Mathematics at 10th standard.

Payment:

Visit your nearest (SBI) branch on the next day i.e. on the day after registration. For example: If you have registered on the website on 20th April 2013, you should visit your nearest SBI branch on 21 April 2013, to make the payment of Rs. 280/- (Application + Bank charges).

Note: The last date for online application is 12th May, and the last date for depositing the challan at any SBI branch will be on 14 May 2013.

Method for Filling up Online Application:

You will have to register on the website and create a login account, the process of which is enumerated below. There are three parts namely Part-1, Part-2 and Part-3. All fields in these parts are to be filled up in Capital Letters.

Part 1 – Registration / Account Generation and Login

(i) Create your Login and Password - On the website http://www.afmc.nic.in click the AFMC MBBS Admission - 2013 link. You shall be directed to the website http://www.afmcdg1d.gov.in

(ii) On the right hand side please click on the "Login for UG" icon. If you are a new applicant you will be able to register yourself by clicking on the "NEW APPLICANT - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER" link. You shall be redirected to an application processing page where you will have to enter your Name (First Name, Middle Name, Last Name (as mentioned in your Class X / SSLC / Higher Secondary / CBSE certificate), valid E-mail ID, NEET - UG Roll number, Qualified exam, Landline No:, Mobile no:, Gender and Date of Birth (as mentioned in your Class X / SSLC / Higher Secondary / CBSE Certificate). Then enter the security code CAPTCHA letters in the image correctly.

Note: You can use your e-mail ID ONLY once to register. If you have wrongly submitted the form, you will not be able to register again with the same e-mail ID.

Part 2 – Filling of Qualification Details

Once you have logged into your account, you will have to fill up your relevant details. All fields marked with a red star (*) are mandatory.

Part 3 – Filling of Personal Details

In this part, you will have to fill in your personal and other relevant data.

Bond Money:

Any candidate withdrawing from the college after 1600 hrs i.e. (4 PM) on 31st July 2013 will have to pay Bond Money as per conditions given in the Govt. of India, Ministry of Defense. The candidates’ parents / guardians are required to sign the bond agreement at the time of admission, which is Rs. 15, 00,000/- (Rupees Fifteen Lacks only) is presently under revision. The exact Bond amount as decided by the Govt. of India will be applicable on the day of admission.

Method of Selection:

Eligible candidates who are interested to join AFMC Pune, to pursue the MBBS course will have to mandatorily appear for the NEET – UG examination to be conducted by CBSE and should have ticked on the option for AFMC. However, in case a candidate had failed to tick on the option for AFMC, he / she may still apply online if fulfills the eligibility criteria as mentioned in the prospectus. The NEET – UG roll number is essential for being recognized for admission to AFMC Pune, and shall be required at all stages of admission process.

Candidates, who are appearing in the NEET – UG examination will have to register and apply online to AFMC Pune on the website http://www.afmc.nic.in OR http://www.afmcdg1d.gov.in with the NEET roll number.

On the declaration of the results, AFMC Pune will draw merit list from amongst the candidates, who have applied to AFMC Pune, and also appeared for the NEET – UG examination. It is reiterated that the qualifying marks would be 50th percentile as notified in the Gazette of India. Candidates who have secured lesser marks / lower than 50th percentile will not be considered for admission to AFMC Pune. No representation in this matter shall be entertained.

The online registration numbers of the candidates, who qualify are shortlisted for the interview, will be displayed on the web site, and also to be published in leading national newspapers. Candidates, who are shortlisted for interview, will be intimated on their registered E- mail and will also find the call letters for the interview once they log into their account. The college / DGAFMS however take no responsibility for any error or omission in the registration numbers published in the newspapers/ displayed on the web site.

Interview of Shortlisted Candidates:

The shortlisted candidates in order of online registration numbers will be called for Test of English Language, Comprehension, Logic and Reasoning (ToELR) cum Interview to be held in the month of June at AFMC, Pune.

Process of Interview:

Test of English Language, Comprehension, Logic and Reasoning (ToELR) will be in the form of CBT (Computer Based Test) consisting of 40 MCQs of 2.0 marks each amounting to a maximum of 80 marks and will be held at AFMC Pune. There will be negative marks of 0.5 for every incorrect answer. These 40 questions will be required to be answered in 30 minutes.

The marks obtained in ToELR will be added to NEET – UG score a (maximum of 720) to get a score out of 800. This will be divided by 4 to get the written examination score out of 200.

The interview will carry 50 marks. The final merit list will be prepared based on the total marks obtained in written examination as well as in the interview.

Admission Process:

Document Scrutiny: The candidates called for admission will have to produce the original Admit card for NEET-UG 2013 containing the NEET roll number, copy of the online application to AFMC Pune, original mark sheets of their qualifying examination and other documents, details of which will be given in the joining instructions handed over to the candidates at the time of the interview. If their results and mark sheets are not received by the date of reporting for admission to AFMC, their candidature will be cancelled and no representation in this respect will be entertained.

Vacancies due to failure of selected candidates to report for admission by the due date will be filled by the candidates from the waiting list in order of the merit list. Hence, candidates are advised to stay at AFMC, Pune till the completion of admission process i.e. till all the vacancies of 130 candidates (105 boys+25 girls) are filled up. Those in the waiting list should keep certificates, bond and fees ready with themselves to move at short notice on receipt of telephonic intimation, letter or telegram.

DGAFMS/College will not be responsible for delay in receipt or non receipt of communication sent by the post. No intimation about non-selection or correspondence in this regard will be entertained.

Candidates MUST preserve the NEET – UG admit cards till the admission to AFMC is over. Admit card along with NEET – UG roll number, will be required during the interview and final admission to the college.

Medical Examination: All candidates will be subjected to medical examination as per the requirement of the Armed Forces and the standards laid down by the body. There is no provision for declaring a candidate temporarily unfit. The final authority for deciding medical fitness to the MBBS Course is the Commandant AFMC. Medical Examination report by civilian doctors will not be accepted.

Medical Standards:

The height and weight requirements will depend upon the age, body-built and racial characteristics as per the standard elicited for Armed Forces:

Girls Standard: In case of female candidates’ minimum height 144 cm and minimum weight 36 kg respectively is required.

Boys Standards: Male candidate’s height below 157.5 cm (152.5 for Gorkhas, Nepalese Garhwali, and Assamese) and weight below 39 kg will not be accepted irrespective of age and other factors.

There should be a minimum of 5cm range for chest expansion.

Visual Standards:
Minimum color vision standard should be CP-3 (Defective Safe).

Hearing Standard:
The candidate should be able to hear a forced whisper with each ear separately at a distance of
20 feet.
